July 2020 Update

Added a whole bunch of new music today! Queen, Tears for Fears, Paula Abdul, and more. These will start playing in the next few days.

We are super stoked that Captain Hugh & The Contessa are now fully operational from Studio Sea! That’s right, yacht Rockin’s on Saturdays from 3 PM to 7 PM is now coming to you FROM AN ACTUAL YACHT! Now how many radio stations are doing that?

We’ve started looking at ways to have our own custom app so you don’t have to deal with the Live365 app, which works most of the time…but let’s be honest, it can be unreliable! So yes, we are looking at our own app in the future.

We really appreciate you sharing the station with your friends and family. Thanks for your support!

May Update

Hey hey, we’re almost through May! Not a whole has changed with the exception of some back end things like server location. Otherwise, it’s business as usual!

Captain Hugh and The Contessa continue making waves with Yacht Rockin’ on Saturdays from 3p to 7p. In fact, we’ve added an encore presentation (kind of a Yacht Club Brunch) on Sundays from 10a to 2p. It’s a replay of Saturday’s show, just in case you missed it.

DJ Tremlo continues counting down 1960. May’s show was superb and extra long…nearly 2 hours! June’s show is in production and will air the first and third weekends of the month at 9a Saturday and 9p Sunday on each of those weekends.

Man, those guys and gals are so hard at work it makes me feel kind of lazy! Oh wait, I’m the chief engineer and bottle washer. My plate is full too! But I AM working on some ideas for special programming. We’ll see what the future holds.

Thanks for listening! GBY!

April 2020 Updates

Here we are in April…actually almost May! It’s not that we haven’t had the time to write an update, being stuck at home all this time. 🙂 To be honest, the station is really just running great! It’s one of those, “No news is good news” kind of reports!

But in reality, there are a couple of things to pass along!

  • Yacht Rockin’ with Captain Hugh and The Contessa airs Saturday’s from 3p-7p AND NOW ALSO ON SUNDAYS! Yes, if you miss it on Saturday, you can catch the replay on Sunday’s from 12p-4p. Keep an eye on our Facebook page and the Yacht Rockin’ FB page as Captain Hugh is updating the timeline as the show airs on both days. Fun stuff!
  • Music And Timeline History continues to air and will have a new episode on the first Saturday of the month at 9 AM. It will also air the same weekend on Sunday night at 9 PM. We are adding a reply weekend on the third weekend of the month as well in case you miss it the first time around.

That’s about it for now. As always, thank you for listening and sharing the station with your friends and family!

March 2020 Updates

We’ve had so many great things going on in the background here at the station! A few highlights:

  • Added literally hundreds of more songs to the rotation.
  • Removed some songs that were…well…burning us out. 🙂
  • Introduced Music And Timeline History with DJ Tremlo, a countdown show of a specific year that includes music and tons of facts and trivia. At this time, a Michigan Mix Radio exclusive!
  • Major equipment updates at the studios of the DJ’s.
  • Starting to periodically live stream some hours.

THANK YOU for supporting our little station as we endeavor to serve our Great Lake State the best way we know how!

February 2020 updates

What an exciting start to the year! Since our last blog update, here’s what’s happened.

  • Added literally hundreds of more songs to the library (and adding more just about every week).
  • Expanded the library for Yacht Rockin’ with Captain Hugh and The Contessa
  • Launched “At The Movies with The Contessa” so you know what’s playing on the big screens each weekend.
  • Launched “Music And Timeline History”, a music magazine show with DJ Tremlo starting in the year 1960.
  • “Dayparted” certain songs so that edgier stuff plays from 6 PM to 6 AM. This makes listening at work and in public places like cafes a little easier on the ears. 🙂

Probably the most significant update to share with you is that we moved the radio software that runs the station to a “cloud based” server. This has greatly increased the reliability of the stream as it is now located in a mega redundant data center with multiple internet connections.

Moving the server to the cloud also sets the stage for us to obtain our own music licensing so we can one day migrate from Live365 and have a LOT more flexibility.

More good things to come this Spring, Lord willing. 🙂 THANK YOU SO MUCH for your support!
